The American humanoid story is told in valuations. Figure at US$39 billion, Skild at more than US$14 billion, Apptronik near US$5 billion, a US$2.5 billion SPAC for Agility. The Chinese story is told in units: more than 5,500 Unitree humanoids and about 5,200 AgiBot units shipped in 2025, against roughly 150 each for Figure, Agility and Tesla. Both stories are true, and a buyer in Southeast Asia who has to choose a robot this year needs to hold both at once. This brief sets down what the US makers have built, who is paying for it, what it costs and what can be ordered, with the dates and the confidence of each claim.

We read the company pages and filings in the last week of September 2026. Where a number comes only from an analyst or a news report we say so and mark it reported; where it comes from a company page, a filing or a regulator we mark it verified. Claims with no public source carry unverified.

The pattern to notice: the two most valuable companies on the list, Figure and Skild, have the least public evidence of paying customers, and the two with the clearest paying customers, Agility and Dyna, are valued at a fraction of them. That gap is the market's bet on general-purpose autonomy, and it is the single biggest uncertainty in buying a US humanoid today.

02Shipped against promised

Every US maker publishes a factory capacity. None publishes an audited unit count. The best outside estimate, from the analyst firm Omdia as reported in January 2026, puts Figure, Agility and Tesla at about 150 humanoids each shipped in 2025, against more than 5,500 for Unitree, by its own prospectus, and about 5,200 for AgiBot.20 reported for the US figures, verified for Unitree. Global totals for 2025 disagree between about 13,000 and 18,000, and every source puts China's share near 90%.

Humanoids shipped in 2025 against stated annual factory capacity, on a logarithmic scale 100 1,000 10,000 100,000 1,000,000 units a year Figure about 150 shipped, 2025 BotQ, 12,000 a year stated Agility about 150 shipped RoboFab, 10,000 a year stated Tesla about 150 shipped, none to customers Fremont line designed for 1,000,000 a year 1X 0 verified customer deliveries by July 2026 Hayward, 10,000 a year stated Unitree more than 5,500 shipped, prospectus 10,000 to 20,000 target for 2026 Orange: units shipped in 2025. Fig 1Stated capacity runs one to four orders of magnitude ahead of what shipped. Shipments are Omdia estimates for the US makers and Unitree's own prospectus; capacities are the makers' statements. reported shipments, verified as statements of capacity.

Two forecasts frame 2026. Goldman Sachs raised its humanoid outlook in September 2026 to about 75,000 units shipped worldwide in 2026, 890,000 in 2030 and 6.5 million in 2035; Morgan Stanley puts China alone at about 50,000 in 2026. reported Against those, a US maker that ships 1,000 robots in 2026 would be doing well, and the Chinese makers' 2026 targets, 10,000 to 20,000 for Unitree and about 5,000 for UBTech, are already in the thousands.

Dyna wrote in May 2026 that going from a sale to reliable operation took "weeks-to-months of on-site engineering", that most of the deployment work "didn't transfer cleanly to the next customer", and that its longest deployment was about ten months of daily use.18 verified No other US maker has published a sentence like it. It is also the best description we have read of what deployment work in Southeast Asia will look like.

For comparison, UBTech WalkerRobot-as-a-service about US$5,000 a month against a purchase above about US$80,000Our September dossier reported

The useful comparison for a buyer is the monthly number. A Digit at about US$8,500 a month and a Walker at about US$5,000 a month are both priced against a loaded warehouse worker in the United States; against a Singapore cleaner's wage floor of S$2,080 a month, or a Jakarta minimum wage of about S$450, neither pays back on labour alone. The US robots will enter this region first where the labour cost is already high and the site is policy-constrained, and second through the global accounts of their existing customers. estimate

Two design splits matter for a buyer here: Digit's grippers and 9-minute charge are built for one job done all day, while Figure, NEO and Optimus carry five-finger hands and bet on general manipulation; and NEO's 30 kg, soft body is the only one of these designed to work around people in a home.

06The money behind it

  • Robotics venture funding in 2026 passed every prior year by August. Crunchbase counted about US$15 billion for all of 2025 and about US$23 billion by early August 2026; humanoid start-ups alone took about US$8.6 billion in 2026 against US$3.7 billion in 2025. reported
  • The brains are valued like the bodies. Skild AI above US$14 billion in January 2026 and Physical Intelligence at US$5.6 billion in November 2025, neither with a robot of its own. reported
  • Agility is the first US humanoid maker to go public, by merger with Churchill Capital Corp XI at US$2.5 billion pre-money, announced 24 June 2026, with a confidential S-4 filed in July, a chief financial officer appointed in July, a public-company board named on 29 September and an investor day on 6 October 2026.1113 verified It reports more than US$300 million of multi-year orders and about US$100 million of 2025 cash burn, and no revenue figure. reported
  • Unitree's listing reset the comparison. It priced at ¥150.80 on 19 August 2026 and closed its first day at ¥845, a rise of about 460%, on 2025 revenue of ¥1.708 billion and net profit of ¥278 million.20 verified for the price and the filing figures. By our arithmetic that is roughly US$51 billion, more than Figure's last private mark, for a company that ships. estimate
  • 1X's big round did not happen. A US$10 billion raise discussed from September 2025 had not closed by July 2026, and a single report in August 2026 described SoftBank negotiating a majority stake at about US$6 billion. unverified
  • Tesla has the largest stated capacity and the smallest disclosure. Its Q2 2026 update describes first-generation lines being installed at Fremont for production in 2026, with a Giga Texas line designed for ten million a year from 2027, and gives no unit number.9 verified as statements

07What a buyer in Southeast Asia can get today

Ordering a US-made robot from Singapore in October 2026 gives a short list. Spot and Stretch are products with distributors, service and more than 2,000 units in the field; a Singapore distributor already sells and services Spot. Digit is sold as a service in North America only. Apollo is in pilots with named customers and not on sale. Atlas is committed to Hyundai and Google DeepMind for all of 2026, with outside customers from 2027. NEO ships in the United States first, internationally from 2027 by the company's own account. Optimus is not for sale before 2027. verified from the sources above.

The humanoids will arrive here through their makers' existing customers before they arrive through distributors. Jabil builds in Penang, Hyundai assembles in West Java, Toyota and Mercedes-Benz assemble in Thailand, and Schaeffler runs plants in Vietnam and its regional base in Singapore. Those are the plants whose parent companies already run Apollo, Atlas and Digit elsewhere. We have found no announcement of a US humanoid at any of them, so this is our inference about where to look, and nothing more. estimate

For a site here that must avoid Chinese-made connected equipment, the practical US options this year are a quadruped or a box-unloading arm, with a humanoid pilot possible only through a parent company's programme. For every other site, the price gap is the fact that decides: a Chinese humanoid costs a fifth to a tenth of its US counterpart and ships in weeks. That is the market we work in, and this brief exists so that the US side of it is described with the same care as the Chinese side on our supply chain map.

What we could not verify

Omdia's per-company shipment estimates, which we read through press summaries; Apptronik's valuation, which two outlets put at US$5 billion and US$5.5 billion; Figure's RaaS rate and home lease; the Atlas price; 1X's financing after the failed round; Tesla's unit counts, which its own statements contradict; and whether any US humanoid is in a Southeast Asian plant. We will update this page as each closes.

estimate

reported
reported
reported
estimate
unverified

estimate
